JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Arkansas State track and field looks to sweep the Sun Belt outdoors like in 2023 and 2021.

The Red Wolves head to Monroe, Louisiana this weekend for the conference championships.

Head coach Dr. Jim Patchell breaks down the squad heading to the bayou.

“Well we had a good indoor season,” Patchell said Tuesday afternoon. “The outdoor meet is going to be a little different for us. We’re not at full strength. We redshirted some guys and had some injuries. But we still think we got the team to go down there and win some championships. We’re going to do our best. And we got a plan, we got a path to victory. If we execute, we’ll be fine. If we don’t, we won’t. It’s the same as any other year.”

Bella Coscetti, Rahel Broemmel, Colby Eddowes, Cash Kunkel, and Josh Jones are among several Red Wolves to record event wins this spring.

We got a big freshmen class, we’re a very young team. And it’s a long season for a young team. But the freshmen that are sophomores now, have really improved. And we usually see that. Coach Kraft does an outstanding job with the throws group, and that’s really one of our strong points this year. It always has been right there with some of the other event areas.>

A-State is in action Thursday through Saturday, all three days of competition will be streamed on ESPN+. You can see live results here.
