The ongoing Israel and Iran conflict has the possibility of turning into a full-scale warfare. Tensions have been heating up for years because of territorial, political and religious issues in the tense regions of the Middle East. The fear of direct clash between the two countries looms large as each one of them are blaming each other for the aggression and competing in order to dominate their position in the region. 1.Israel is eagerly waiting for a response from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Iran’s first-ever direct attack as international pressure for restraint is mounting up.
2.Netanyahu has called up his war cabinet for planning the counter back to Iran’s weekend drone and missile attack, as per government sources.
3.Top Israel general Herzi Halevi clearly stated that they will reply back without giving out details of the attack. He said, ”So many missile attacks, drone attacks and cruise missiles on territory of Israel will be replied back’’, as Reuters reported.
4.Israel foreign minister Israel Katz said that he is persuading other countries to put up sanctions on Iran’s missile programme and brand its Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization after Iran ‘s first military attack on Israel.
5.On the other hand, President Ebrahim Raisi said that Iran will retaliate to any action taken against their interest. This reaction comes after Israel threatens to respond back to Tehran’s missile attack.
6.The chances of military attack by Israel have alarmed many Iranians as the country continues to struggle with the economic crisis, social and political constraints since protests took place in 2022-23.
7. Netanyahu has been informed by US President Joe Biden in the United States that they won’t be contributing in the Israel counter strike.
8. In a telephonic conversation, Wang Yi informed Iran Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian that China supports Iran’s stance of not attacking neighbouring and regional countries.
9.United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, French President Emmanual Macron, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron and Japan Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa are in favour of exercising restraint during the conflict.
10.The Group of Seven major democracies (G7) are planning to take coordinated action against Iran, said British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
